In one of her final releases of the year, Amy Jaime is introducing her ever-growing audience to a different side of her artistry. "Octubre" marks the Las Vegas-based singer's first-ever Spanish single. Following in the footsteps of Becky G and Sofia Reyes, Amy wears her heart on her sleeve in "Octubre." With a dreamy aura and catchy melody, the easygoing, mid-tempo song tells a compelling story. It's a bit less hard-hitting and production-heavy than her previous endeavors, such as "CLIMB" and "Secret" - so through "Octubre," fans can appreciate Amy's impeccable vocals in a new way.
Playlists & Polaroids recently had the opportunity to chat with Amy about how her musical journey so far has led to "Octubre," and the rising star also gave us some hints on what we can expect next. Read our full interview with her below!

YOU'LL LOVE AMY JAIME IF YOU LISTEN TO: Becky G, Fifth Harmony, ROSALIA, Sofia Reyes, Selena Quintanilla, Mariah Carey, SZA
When did you first get into music, and how long have you known that you wanted to do this professionally?
I first got into music when I was 9 years old but I professionally started to do music in 2020 during the pandemic!
What kinds of music did you grow up listening to? Are there any particular artists that have especially influenced you for a long time? How do they shape your sound as an artist today?
I listened to multiple genres growing up and I still do! However, Selena Quintanilla and Mariah Carey were the two that have always stood out to me. Listening to multiple genres has helped shape my sound because I can show how versatile I am to the world.
What inspired you to cross over into reggaeton and Latin music with “Octubre,” after the success of your R&B singles like “Climb”?
It’s always been on my mind to pursue Spanish music but I’ve always pushed it to the side because most of my music is English. I decided to cross over because I have a mission to be an influence to the younger generations so that they can see that they too can do both languages.
Prior to “Octubre,” how much experience have you had speaking and singing in Spanish?
I’ve been speaking Spanish my entire life it is my first language, I’ve also been singing in Spanish since I was about 15 years old.
What was it like collaborating with Matute and Vale on “Octubre”?
Collaborating with the both was so much fun! Vale is an incredible writer. She helped me write "Octubre" in an hour.
If you could pick any artist to feature on a remix of “Octubre,” no matter how big or small they are - who would it be?
My dream collaboration would be Becky G.
You’ve recently shared that after releasing “Octubre,” you got to be featured on a Times Square billboard! That’s super cool and a huge accomplishment. How did that come about?
I did! It was amazing. I actually did some research myself and there’s an amazing company called TSX that helped me with this opportunity, so if any other artists or small businesses are looking to promote their brand or product, I definitely recommend to hit up TSX! I’ve also actually never been to New York - I’m hoping I can go there next year in 2024 specifically to perform!
What are your goals in music for the new year? At the moment, do you have anything in store that fans can look forward to?
More Spanish music, an EP finally! And more performances/content finally going viral and becoming a full time artist - I’m manifesting it.
What draws you to Las Vegas as a homebase for your music career? In what ways does the environment of Vegas shape you as an artist?
I grew up in a small town 45 minutes away from Las Vegas which is called Pahrump, but I have always been going to Vegas back and forth, since I have a lot family and friends in Vegas. I originally moved to Vegas in 2019 and it’s definitely helped my music career, especially with networking with other locals.
From your perspective, how does the music scene in Vegas compare to other placed you’ve performed like LA, New York, and Phoenix?
Very community-like, everyone knows everyone.
Finally, the P&P classic! What’s a lyric from “Octubre” that stands out to you? Walk us through the process of yourself writing it, and how does it speak to you personally?
“Yo no queria enamorarme del " which translates in English to "I didn’t want to fall in love with him” - which I did unfortunately. I also want to thank Valentina Fres once again for the whole writing process she was incredible. Valentina also has her own music out on all streaming platforms. I definitely recommend to anyone who’s reading this article to check her out!
If "Octubre" is any indication, the rest of Amy's Spanish tracks will undoubtedly stay on repeat once they come out.
